Passenger Vessel Plans Development
Maritime Technical Services (MTS) provides comprehensive plan development and regulatory design review for small passenger vessels engaged in new construction, modification, or certification under U.S. Coast Guard inspection.
Scope of Services
MTS prepares, reviews, and revises critical drawings and technical documents required for Coast Guard plan approval in accordance with 46 CFR Subchapters T, K, and H. Our engineers and inspectors work directly with vessel owners, operators, and shipyards to ensure each plan meets applicable regulatory and classification standards.
- Fire Control and Safety Plans
- General Arrangements and Escape Route Diagrams
- Ventilation and Machinery Space Arrangements
- Stability, Lifesaving, and Fire Protection Plans
- Electrical One-Line Diagrams and Power Distribution Schematics
All plans are developed and reviewed to satisfy the intent of applicable NVICs, 46 CFR requirements, and recognized industry standards, including those of ABS, DNV, ABYC, and NFPA.
Our Process
- Conduct preliminary design review and regulatory applicability assessment.
- Coordinate directly with USCG Plan Review Offices and Marine Safety Centers (MSC).
- Develop and submit plan packages that align with Subchapter T, or K requirements.
- Support field inspections and COI issuance by aligning plan documentation with as-built conditions.
Whether assisting a shipyard, vessel owner, or naval architect, MTS bridges the gap between design intent and regulatory compliance—ensuring passenger vessels are safe, certifiable, and operationally practical.
From early-stage design through final Coast Guard approval, our experience helps clients reduce review time, minimize revisions, and achieve compliance efficiently.
